I am a wife with a passion for women's health and education to live one step closer to the way we are created. I love all things movement, delicious food and genuine community.

My journey to fertility awareness began in the fall of 2020. After struggling with painful periods, poor digestion, consistent low energy, seasonal depression/anxiety and acne for years, I desperately needed a solution. I jumped into intense protocols but lacked the knowledge to understand the root of these symptoms. I thought I was the only woman with this experience.

Fast forward to early 2022, I took my first Fertility Awareness Method course, and that's when it clicked.

I lacked understanding of the foundational physiology of my cycle to understand the data my body was giving me through my 5th vital sign - and it turns out, I wasn't alone in this.

Recognizing the gaps in my own reproductive education and learning from the experiences of the women in my community, I became certain that foundational cycle education for women and couples is a MUST. Cycle by Design was born out of the life-changing impact informed consent in reproductive care provides to women and the simultaneous heartbreak for vital signs we didn't learn.

I'm Cheryl Overweg

I am your Nutrition Consultant for Cycle by Design. I'm a wife, mom, and a new grandma! I love the outdoors, especially being in the mountains!

My journey to being a Certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner has evolved over the last 30+ years.  My original schooling was for nursing where I specialized in Cardiac Nursing and Education.  At the time, the nutrition craze I was teaching patients and incorporating into my own life was the low-fat mentality.  This approach never considered food quality, rather just looked to see if the box said low fat.  This carried over into the raising of my kids where we followed what seemed to be a "healthy" diet filled with oatmeal, pretzels, low-fat yogurt, cereals... all the normal things kids ate.

As my kids grew, I became concerned with the things I saw they were struggling with. That is where I first stumbled upon the connection between the food we ate and symptoms we experience!  It has fueled my background in health and desire to continue to learn more, most often busting the ideas we have been taught by the Standard American Diet culture and marketing!

My goal is to help you figure out how food best fuels your body to function how it was designed! Food is powerful, and nourishing our bodies brings about amazing change! Change not only in how our bodies are able to best function, but also in the freedom from trying to decipher all the marketing noise of what foods to eat or avoid or what diet to try next. Let's move away from all the nutrition noise and get back to enjoying food as it was intended!
